2011 Cal Soccer League Spring Soccer Season

Our primary goal of CCSL Spring League 2011 is to provide a competitive soccer environment, without the pressure to “win” at all costs. This is a great opportunity to try out new players, cross train positions or gain valuable playing time before your State and National Cup Events. Teams can request 2 a-days which may help them prepare for State and National Cup Events.

Registration is open through February 18th.
LEAGUE FEES: $75 per team. No payment is due when registering CCSL will invoice each CYSA District for all approved teams from their district once registration closes. Acceptance into the CCSL Spring League is contingent upon league and district approval.

DATES: The following are the potential playing dates. Teams will play eight to ten games during Spring Season. April 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, 23 NO GAMES ON EASTER SUNDAY April 24, 30, May 1, 7-8, 14-15, and 21-22.

AGE GROUPS: U9 - U19 Boys & Girls divisions

FLEXIBILITY: Schedules will be developed so teams can participate in their State and National Cup commitments. Teams may also choose one additional week-end to enter a tournament. Teams choosing to take additional week-ends off for other events are not guaranteed a full game schedule. Any team advancing to the quarter finals in either the CYSA State or Presidents Cup will receive automatic bye weeks to eliminate any schedule conflicts with their cup schedule. Please complete the 2011 No Play Date Form when registering your team.

GUEST PLAYERS: Staying true CYSA’s long history of listening to the changing needs of our soccer community. CCSL will be announcing a Spring Soccer guest player policy that provides teams the flexibility and player movement necessary to evaluate and train in a competitive soccer environment.

OPPORTUNITY: The CCSL Spring League will be utilized by the CYSA State ODP coaching staff to scout additional players for inclusion onto their State ODP Player Pools.

VENUES: Home team is responsible for securing home playing field. In the event that your team does not have a home field for Spring Soccer, we schedule you to play away for the entire season. You will be responsible to reimburse the field costs to the league that provides the venue for half of your games.

REFEREES: Local Soccer Referee assignors or their designated agents will assign all referees. The amount of the referee fees will be paid in accordance to the home team league guidelines. In the event your team plays the entire season away you will be responsible for the referee fees for half of your games at the rate established by the home league.

FAQ’s

I have a team that is not currently registered with CYSA. How can I participate in a CYSA competitive league?
In order for your team to participate in a CYSA sanctioned competitive league, you must complete the following:
1) Register your team with the CYSA sanctioned league of registration your team / club is affiliated with.
2) Register your players with that league.
3) Head coach must obtain a minimum of a CYSA "F" coaching license. Districts / leagues may establish additional specific license requirements for coaches, officials, team administrators. Check with you local affiliate.
4) All coaches and other responsible team administrators must approved risk management paperwork on file with your local CYSA league of registration. This applies to fall, winter, and spring season regardless whether or not your team is affiliated with another USSF member (AYSO, Super Y League, or US Club Soccer).

I have a player that did NOT play in my Club last year. Can they play?
Yes. Please have your League/Club registrar, register the player with CYSA.

When is the last date a team can sign up for Spring Soccer?
Absolute drop dead date, Feb. 18, 2011

When does the Spring Soccer season start?
The official Spring Soccer season starts April 2, 2011.

What if our club doesn’t hold tryouts until the beginning of April?
You can register your teams now and we can offer your teams byes the first week.

Since each team must secure a home field, does that mean half of our games will be home games?
Could be more home games depending on other teams that may not have a home field. The home and away game theory does not apply to Spring Soccer.

We do not have a home field, can we still join?
YES. Your team will travel for all your games; however you will be responsible for referee fees for half of your games. Travel games were your team is listed as home team will indicate which games you are required to pay the referees as well as field cost if required by the home league.

Can we NOT be scheduled on certain dates?
YES Each team is required to complete a No Play Date form as part of their registration process. This form communicates to the Scheduler the dates your team is "NOT" available for play.

Is it possible to be scheduled two games on Saturday?
YES. Every effort will be made to accommodate such requests.

Is it possible to be scheduled two games on Sunday?
YES. Every effort will be made to accommodate such requests.

Is it possible to play two away games on the same day either at the same field or close enough to be able to commute?
YES. Every effort will be made to accommodate such requests.

Will there be brackets gold/silver, north/coast... etc. as is now in the CCSL?
Teams will be placed in flights and pools according to a team’s requested level of play and geographic local.

Do we need a bond for Spring Soccer?
No, a bond is not required for CCSL Spring Soccer. A vast majority of our coaches adhere to the Rules of Play; however any team deemed abusing our flexible scheduling program will be brought before the disciplinary committee for a hearing. Any fines will be accessed to the offending team’s league of registration thru their district commissioner.

Will any of our games conflict with the High School Season Rules?
NO. Spring Soccer will not conflict with High Schools Rules.
